 Trash Can Dehydrator
Trash Can Dehydrator: I did not have the money to go out and buy a good one right now,so necessity is the mother of invention. It works very well, but does not have temp. control. It runs a constant 120 degrees which is about right for most things.
1 32 gal plastic trash can 1/4 dowel rod for shelf support some type of racks ( I am using old ones from a cheap dehydrator ) older model hair dryer ( new ones have an auto shut-off function. Run for 15 min. to check.)
Drill 4-1 " holes in the lid. Drill a hole up about 4'' on onside that will force fit the dryer. Drill parallel holes down both sides for dowels to go through. I used 5 racks about 4 1/2'" apart. I placed the dowels approx. 12" apart horizontally. I also drilled a hole about 1/2 way up the can to insert an instaread thermometer. My low setting runs about 120 and high about 145. I have had good luck with everything I have tried so far. I am sure the design can be improve. It would be nice to have temp. control.
