Well, I'm putting everything away in the Refriger...uh Greenhouse...it's too cold to go on out there any more. The guys just finished stacking the winter's wood for me...it's time to get back to my QUILTING!! Yippee. I love summer but I miss my sewing time...Of course all winter as I sew, I'm dreaming of spring planting...always something to look forward to! I have a finished top for one son that I plan to have quilted professionally as it is totally gigantic, which he wanted. It turned out so great. Now I have to finish the other son's quilt, which is all 'Young Man's Fancy' blocks done in flannel. Gorgeous but I don't love working with flannel so much when the pieces are small. I'm planning a combo of Ocean Waves/Broken Dishes for the next one, but I need to sew some clothes for me and for my sister too. It's days like this that I am so thankful I have the means and the ability...but seriously wish for the time! Will post pics of the quilt when I get it back if you want. Also need to get the needles out and get some more hats done for give aways, plus the everlasting sweaters, socks, and mittens!
I'm very interested in your historical sewing DisasterCat -- I'd love to hear more about it and see pics if you can! As for spinning and weaving it is high on my list of Learn to do...I gave spinning a try one day and really want to learn - we have a lady who spins her dog's hair into simply stunning garments. My neice keeps goats and will let me have what I want from the one that's suitable...and of course there's always the quiviet yarn I want to spin....mercy, who has time to go to work!! LOL

Our weather is not as severe as yours, so I'm just bringing in a lot of garden stuff now (well what we have anyway). And I just put most of bag of more old wool yarns from the last rug factory in Ireland, in the freezer. They sat out in a shed for about 15 years now, but I think the moths are from inside our house (its always bad here). So I'm freezing them before taking them out to the weaving studio. I've got another huge bag of large commercial skeins from the same place (a family friend got tons of the stuff years ago) but they are in a sealed bad so not as much at risk. The rolls were just in an unsealed garbage bag.

I don't quilt myself, but I sure love to looks so will enjoy seeing pictures of your work. I just noticed we are low on home knit socks that are not too holy to bother patching (after while they get too lumpy or one goes through the hot cycle and they become cat toys). So, time for the knitting needles here as well.

Hey!!! I am soooo jealous of those of you who are already back to your sewing!!! I have at least another month or so of canning and stuff before I can get back to mine. I have one in the frame, untold number of tops ready to quilt (I do them all by hand) and a bunch of patterns picked out to make this winter. I like the Broken Dishes pattern too! Not sure which one I want to tackle first though...gonna take a bit of thought for that.

Ha! I hear you on the dilemma of decision She!! Waaay too many things I want to do with my quilts -- But don't get too jealous yet... I have to go thru the freezer and can everything to make room for more moose ( I hope! )

But it's nice to get started on some of the inside stuff again...especially since we got Termination Dust today....last day of summer indeed!

As soon as I get the Broken Dishes/Ocean Waves pattern figured out, that one is next I'm sure (unless I start the new one for the granddaughter...and that wall hanging is not going to make itself......)

Can't wait for winter, lots of sewing to do this year, and knitting! And I start teaching in November.
