Post Solar ovens?
OK, talk to me about cheap, easy to build, easy to use solar ovens :D

I want to build one. We live in an area where AC isn't necessary, but even so, heating up the house would render it necessary. It's been on my do list for a bit now, and I figure now is the opportune time to try one out.

I was looking at that site a couple days ago. I have a few sites saved to faves & have printed out a solar cookbook. Which of those do you recommend for all the reasons I listed above?

Thanks, both of you. Not only do we not cook in the house in the summer, we turn off the burner on the WH. The pilot keeps it hot enough for 2 showers a day

I am building one from an entertainment center I got and one of those quilted aluminum foil car windshield shades. I have the makings for another one also, as soon as I find a suitable sized box. Whenever I see those windshield shades on sale or at a thrift store, I snatch them up.
BTW, here in nebraska in the 1800s, it was common for houses to have a 'summer kitchen', a one-room building with a kitchen to be used in the summer, to keep from heating up the house with the baking and such with the wood stove.

We've been toying with the idea of a summer kitchen here, too.

outdoor kitchens are the way to go.. spent the day yesterday canning potatoes, couldnt imagine how hot the house would be after 8 hours of canning with no AC..

of course indoor canning is not a option as we havent had propane on the house in over two years..
