I got salsa and (somewhat) whole tomatoes done yesterday and juiced apples today and got 6 quarts of juice for mulled cider this winter. It was more work than I thought, but it sure does taste good! We also got the brush cleared back a bit from the yard, so it won't be so easy for the bear to sneak up on us.

No need to get him to read, Rubies. Soon, he will be thanking you profusely for saving his bacon with your preps. Around here, prepping has become DW and my hobby. My FAVORITE hobby, and her 2nd favorite, after watching old movies. On another subject, I got a cool alcohol stove at a thrift store today for $1.99 . The top twists to adjust the airflow, thereby optimizing the flame. I will keep this one in the car. It is so small, but enough to warm the car if we get stuck in the ditch overnight, or want to heat some food *our car is a station wagon/SUV, used for overnight camping trips and adventures.

 Re: Sept 2010
Went to Sam's club today. On a whim, I asked the price of the insulin that I usually get at Wal Mart pharmacy. It was cheaper at Sam's. Did not buy rice this time, but saw that #10 cans of Chefmate sausage gravy (Mmm) was $6.88, a dollar off the regular price. Also, 6# of angel hair pasta and other pastas are $4.88, also a dollar cheaper.

War, Because of you last week I did buy 100 pounds of popcorn and 50 pounds of rice, stop going to Sam's, it's costing me money.
Next on the prep list is Monday, Son and I are going free concord grape picking and picking up some free canning jars and embroidery supplies, going to make some grape juice to later use for jam/jelly, maybe wine.
