I just stocked up on chicken feed for the winter.

Just paid $10.99/50 lb bag for Dumor Layer pellets. Down $3 since July.

Purina Layena is considerably cheaper too, $1 more than the Dumor right now.

Around here all of the corn hasn't even been harvested yet because of a combination of wet spring weather and some wet fall weather too. A lot of the farmers here sell to the local feed mill where we buy our feed. We always know when the feed grains start pouring in because the prices on everything drop. You're better off getting it early and cheap because it isn't like the stuff that they sell at the end of winter is any fresher than the stuff they sell at the end of fall. I just have to make sure that everything is dry enough when I store it.

I'll stick with growing my own feed. I go thru 50lb a week around here, can not afford 50$ a month feeding chickens
