Coin Shop Chronicles 04/01/11---3 weeks of food
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It has been a long time since I have penned a Chronicle concering the shop. Mostly because of being busy. And we have. And the last couple weeks preparing for guest hosting on the radio has not helped with the already restricted amount of time. People all over the county have been looking for precious metals. But in the past few weeks we have noticed a change. Folks coming in, customers for years but saying that they are now being priced out on silver. Many folks have been priced out on gold now for some time. But silver is still $40 and less for 90% and are being priced out already. What will they do when Silver doubles or even triples today's price? I have a few ideas, but probably by then there could be rioting in the streets.
But with the increase costs of food and fuel. This is not surprising at all. And although we have warned folks for decades to prepare, we still have compassion when seeing suffering. It is the same syndrome that folks will have on judgement day when they stand before God and He shows them all the times they were warned to accept His Son Jesus and they did not.....They made their choice.
A friend came into the shop a couple weeks ago and has been buying small amounts of silver. And of course the topic of food and defense preparations came up. He was very confident that they had plenty of food. His wife buys in bulk he said. So I asked the the grand daddy question, "how long can you survive on the food you have in your home?"......the answer "three weeks". Then he asked me, "how much should I have?" My reply, "when you have 3 years worth then you can say you can survive a while"

Re: Coin Shop Chronicles 04/01/11---3 weeks of food
I'd say it's not so much they are being priced out on silver, but more like the rest of their living expenses are going up and the result is a tightening their belts and making it impossible to throw down $45 or more for an ounce of silver. I know it is getting more difficult for me and other people I know. There was a time when a half ounce of gold would have been no big deal to buy, but now even silver is. I don't have any extras bills, just that the ones I have (like utilities) have been going up and face it, they come first. So does food and gasoline.
It's fast getting to the point where you either have it, or you don't.
