I don’t think it’s a matter of “is it coming.” I think that it’s already here, it’s just a matter of perspective. From one perspective, our frog friends are telling us that we should be grateful that the “spa” is hot and luxurious. From the cook’s perspective… another 10 minutes and we’ll be dinner.

Infinitesimal preps budget right now, but got a microwave rice cooker (new) for 99 cents and a jar of long nails for the same price, and a pizza cutter for 39 cents at the thrift store. Also got more regular light bulbs 4 for 84 cents @ grocery store.

Tough prepping when you have little. TSHTF for many of us already, no job, unemployment running out, house foreclosed... But we do what we can. I got a sweet deal on a US Military backpack & knife at the Flea Market / Thrift Store.

Things are really slow at thrift stores now. I've seen vendors quit and others say that if they did not own the shop they would be gone. It's BAD!

Then there's the government wanting to tax yard sales, flea markets, and everything else. Already indoor flea markets are taxed; you pay taxes on your pay, pay taxes on what you buy, then THEY want to tax stuff you sell at a yard sale because your house is being foreclosed.

Those FEMA camps will come in handy pretty soon.

I can relate....financies are super tight in this house also...kids and I will be having a mini Christmas this year..usually I can pull a rabbit out of my hat, not this year it took al my extra money to make sure we had enough food in the house till the next pay...I got them a few small things for their stockings, thank goodness for sales combined with coupons..this year I would love to have that stocking full of coal that I was always threatened with...

I got
old spice deoderant on sale for 1.79(if I bought 2 I got 3.00 off)so one for each of my boys
cover girl mascara 3.47 each (and if I bought 2 I got 3.00 off) one for me and bunnylove
toilet paper 4 rolls on slae for .75 cents for the 4 pack( I had coupon for 1.00 off) yup they owed me a quarter
oral b toothbrushes 1.50 each and I had dollar off coupon( just have to figure out who needs a new toothbrush)

Post Re: December 2010(Merry Christmas)
yesterday I had to go out of town to get my smokes and since I am already down the highway I decided to go to that place that is closing and see what they have left...

They had put their flip flops and sandals on sale further(worked out at and average of 3 cents a pair) so I bought all that they had left every shape, size and style...kids and I ended up with about 8 pairs each that would fit...and the rest i am donating to charity...

I decided to stop on my way out and found out that the same deal applied to all of the sunhats...so guess what I bought all of those also..most of them are baby sunhats, but I managed to find 3 to wear for summer gardening and one that i can wear as a fishing hat...the spare ones will also go to charity

I think in total i spent 4 dollars on all of the shoes and hats...I just counted up and I bought 58 pairs of flip flops and sandals and 27 hats

Today I shopped in town..I got a heat rebate so I could spend a bit more extra on Christmas..and when I did some shopping at the source here in town he gave me a discount on some of the things I bought

My best deal today was paper plates..100 in a pack for 50 cents a pack, they are regular 3.27 for them..I bought 12 packs(course that is all they had)..1000 of the plates will be stored away for SHTF

Got two good, usable adult bicycles from beside my favorite dumpster last night. The ladies bike is I think a Sears model, the men's is a huffy. They are both 10 speeds, and need the tires aired up or repaired, but appear to be workable otherwise. The men's has no fenders, but has a rack on the back for carrying stuff with bungee cords. Also got a windowbox planter for next spring.

Post Re: December 2010(Merry Christmas)
second trip in, there was so much new stuff we did not know where to begin..also some of the stuff they don't have prices on yet caue it is selling so fast so we were,nt sure how much we had spent..you will notice that some of things I only bought one item..thats because that was all they had left

masking tape (4) .45 cents a roll
4 pc bathroom set(2) 3.90 set
Ice breaker mats (4) 1.50 each
plastic storage cont (4) .60 each
trivets expanding (5) .67 each
wire cage for stuffing
.75 cents
knife,scissors cutting board set 3.00
shoe racks (2) 1.50 each
running shoes for bunnylove 3.90
yarn(11) .38 ball
bath towels (8) 1.00 each
dental floss .30 each
waste baskets with neat flip lid (2) 1.20 each
wall mirror 3.00
knife set in wood block 5.40
cushions(pillows) (4) 3.90

That was our second trip into the store..then we went on to Sudbury to get to the bulk food store and to walmart

at walmart we got (more stuff but not prep items)
4 900grams bags of barley 1.37
5 cans of corn

at the bulk food store(first time for bunnylove to be in one..she had a blast)well at an age where she could appreciate it...

one pound of active dry yeast
8 lbs of rolled oats
one pound of dried powdered cheese
bay leaves
cinnamon
coloured sugar(bunnylove to sprinkle on top of home made goodies)
star anise both whole and ground

at a store called XS we got a blender and iron and a laptop tray

then we decided it was time to head home..it had been raining all day in Sudbury a light type drizzle, but then we hit the back part of Sudbury small town called Chelmsford and once we turned downthat aprt fo the highway to get to the highway we needed all heck broke lose, we were goin about half the highway speed..i could not see the road at times the wind kept whipping us everywere ..once we got to the main highway to get home it was a bit better..but that slow down cost us an extra 45 minutes..it was'nt until half way home that the weather cleared up and we were able to hit normal highway speeds....

It was well worth the trip to get all of these preps in and alot of good eals for the kids under the tree..there is alot more that I got for good prices..but little prying eyes(bunnylove926) would see...lol....
