Post Eggeating Hens
I've never had this problem, but I have 7 pullets who just started laying in the coop with the older hens, and noticed a lot of broken eggs this past week. It thankfully turned out that I don't have an eggeater, but after researching I wanted to pass on some tips, just in case someone else has this problem.

If you catch it early, feed extra protein. Cheap canned tuna, yogurt, scrambled eggs, even canned cat food. Just up the protein.

Place golf balls in the nesting boxes. If you do have an eggeater, there is no reward after pecking a golf ball.

Gather eggs as often as you can. Means more for you and less for the eggeater.

As a last resort, cull the offender before others in the flock imitate bad behavior.

I've had success adding a couple tablespoons of cod liver oil to the feed.

always heard its a calcium thing when they eat eggs, never heard of it being protein.

oyster shells or like we do, just break up the egg shells from the eggs we use and feed it back to them solves the problem..

I've got a duck that hates it when chickens lay in her spot. she breaks the chicken eggs in the nest.
