Post Coleman Dual Fuel Stove Question
Time to pick the brains of wiser people again.

Managed to lay hands on a slightly used Dual Fuel Stove for $38 last weekend. Gave it a testing this afternoon and it burns sweet hot and long. So it's added to our alternate cooking system. However, it can use unleaded petrol or colemans own fuel. Does anone know how long I can lay down Coleman fuel for ? Or alternatley, if burning unleaded with a preservative like Stabil will cause problems in the long run.

Any info is appreciated thanks.

from colemans site.

An un-opened container of ColemanĀ® Fuel stored in a dry area with no rapid extreme changes in temperature will remain viable for five to seven years. An opened container stored in the same area will remain viable for up to two years though will be at its best if used within a year. ColemanĀ® Propane Cylinders can be stored indefinitely in a dry area. The propane fuel inside the cylinder will not break down.

The dual-fuel stoves do NOT use propane, but Coleman liquid fuel. (Or unleaded gasoline.)

Not sure how the older dual fuel stoves will handle the new ethanol included fuels.

Post Re: Coleman Dual Fuel Stove Question
The idea of a dual-fuel stove appealed to me when I first saw them, but when I saw that the other fuel was a proprietary fuel, I kind of lost interest. I currently have propane stoves, and a hibachi (the old, cast iron style, not the stamped metal style. My next acquisition (don't know if I will make or buy) will be an alcogol stove. They are very cheap, and fairly easy to make, but are time-consuming to build due to their high degree of labor intensity.
I still may want a dual-fuel stove in the future, but only to use with gasoline, so I would have that option as well.
Don't know about the suitability of ethanol blends as a fuel, but I will probably be looking that up soon.
P.S.- I want to get a Kelly Kettle, but they are too expensive for me right now.

Has anyone tried the Volcano Multi-fuel stove by Emergency Essentials?

It looks very good, though.

you can buy the propane adapter piper and valve in the camping department for use on these stoves. I have one and it works well. Gives you one more way to fuel the stove
