 4/08 yeast(updated)
So I wanted to do this a couple of weeks ago with my new bread maker and that was make a loaf of bread with yeast that had been stored in the freezer since 408

well today when I went to te yard sales I can acriss a small bread maker and it was good deal so I got it...

I have the machine with a loaf in it right now, I will post info about the yeast and how it worked in the loaf once the machine is done

FYI it works...the yeast from April 2008 is still good...remember I have moved twice during the time of owning this yeast, so it was thawed and then re-frooze...ummm its so yummy

for those of you wanting to long term prep some yeast..I have mine in a freezer ziplock bag and got all the air out of it...and then I brought out a small container and it actually sat for 3-4 weeks while I eighter got a part for my machine or got another bread maker...

next thing on my list more yeast to prep..

oh and this was bought in bulk not the little packages

I don’t think it’s a matter of “is it coming.” I think that it’s already here, it’s just a matter of perspective. From one perspective, our frog friends are telling us that we should be grateful that the “spa” is hot and luxurious. From the cook’s perspective… another 10 minutes and we’ll be dinner.

Thats the nice thing about being a prepper for long time and putting this stuff aside, is that you finally get to test some of this stuff out to see what lasts

dried powdered cheese is another one..I store some in different ways to see how long the cheese would last and which way was better...

First off I highly reccomend that you do not save the cheese that comes in mac and cheese boxs, those went bad right after the expiry date..but I had bought some dried cheddar cheese at the bulk store, some I did up in canning jars with pump and seal and some I did up in zip lock sandwich bags(removed as much air as possible) and then I had some cookie tins, filled those with the zip lock bags and replaced lid and duct taped, dated...both ways were good in preserving the dried cheese..we are using the dreied cheese now for the boxed mac and cheese...I had to throw out all the little packets that came with the boxed stuff

Post Re: 4/08 yeast(updated)
ok so here is the update on froozen yeast...

Yeast will work as long as it is kept froozen until use...

I had brought enough out to do 4 loafs..and missed a couple of days after making 2 loaves 2 days in a row..I bought the second used bread machine made a loaf and it came out like a crumbled brick...So I brought out enough yeast yesterday to do just 2 loaves...I did the first loaf in the working machine and then an hour later started the second loaf in the machine I thought did not work..well both loaves turned out ok..

So I suggest that you find a long term place to freeze your yeast..seems that air and room temp take the raising power out of it
