Who: Department of Education

What: Provided $6,500 in "Title 1 No Child Left Behind" funds to pay for a speaker to talk about "professional learning communities" at Edgewater Elementary School in California.

Why it's an outrage: Not only did the school have to pay for the speaker, but it also had to pay all the teachers to attend. Meanwhile, the school district, Marysville Joint Unified, faces a $5 million budget deficit.

Where to vent: Call the Department of Education inspector general at 1-800-MIS-USED.

Is there anything about the "No child left behind" that isn't a joke?

This "program" has done NOTHING to help children succeed, and has completly changed the direction of teaching in our schools. Our children are nothing but walking test scores now. If it's not on the MAP tests, it's not taught in the schools.

Thanks George, I still don't miss you, but don't feel bad...I don't miss Carter, Regan, your daddy, Clinton...and I won't miss the "O" either.

Oh...I forgot the one thing No Child Left Behind HAS accomplished, and it's significant....motived, bright children are kept from reaching to high a level of achievement so "those less fortunate" are not left to feel poorly about themselves and their lack of motivation and achievement.

Touchy subject for me folks...sorry for the rant.

Oh, I agree 100%!
instead of 'raising the bar' for kids to achieve, they lower it so everyone that can breathe and not poop their pants (for up to 4 hours) gets a passing grade. kkk

We have no need or time for these dumbasses in industry, and they are all heartbroken, because they 'graduated', but are too stupid to be employed.

(yeah, I'm a dick) ooo
