Post Woohoo! Hi everyone
It is great to find you! cham

I'm starting my 3rd year of prepping and was really looking for a place where the focus is on prepping, not on survivalism.

I'm in NY, up by Lake Erie. I'm working on becoming a better gardener, canner and scratch cooker. I am not seeing the need for these skills diminishing this year, unfortunately.

Looking forward to chatting and posting with everyone!

welcome!!

I must say though that I consider survivalism to be a part of prepping...what are you prepping for?

I prep to survive. All kinds of happenings. I started with the most likely happenings in order to have a focus. Economy , weather, war, terrorism. Even a peaceful old age.

Tunnel vision on just one danger can kill just as surely as not prepping at all.

I don’t think it’s a matter of “is it coming.” I think that it’s already here, it’s just a matter of perspective. From one perspective, our frog friends are telling us that we should be grateful that the “spa” is hot and luxurious. From the cook’s perspective… another 10 minutes and we’ll be dinner.

Thank you all for the welcome.

To me Survivalism seems to have a political and religious component which prepper does not have. I could be wrong of course, this is just an impression from being around survivalist boards and not feeling like their concerns match mine very well.

My concerns are more to be able to have 9/11, Katrina or the NYC blackout happen in my area and have myself and family weather it warm, dry and well fed. Yes, weapons are a part of my plan - but bullets will not keep me dry or make my water drinkable.

If you ignore the conspiracy, politics, religious and wanting to have more weapons then the local police do and think survivalism is about skills, gardening, local knowledge - then I am slowly becoming a survivalist.
