I don’t think it’s a matter of “is it coming.” I think that it’s already here, it’s just a matter of perspective. From one perspective, our frog friends are telling us that we should be grateful that the “spa” is hot and luxurious. From the cook’s perspective… another 10 minutes and we’ll be dinner.

Sounds good ,we have bone chilling rain here.

I am always reluctant to list what I think of as regular shopping for food as a ''prep'', however, in a way it is, especially with those items which remain after the month of purchase.

Those who know me, know that I harp on the Angel Food Ministries monthly box deliveries
as a combined monthly expense savings, and also a source of prep items available on the pantry
shelf weeks or months later, so since your already here, I will tell you about February's package.

Angel Food offers several different packages every month, the most popular, their 31 and41 dollar boxes.

In February, I chose the "" Bountiful Blessings'' box at 41 dollars.
For my money I received the following, with some smaller items left out.
( I usually evaluate the packages on the current prices of the meats offered in each package)

2lb formed hamburger patties
2lb boneless skinless chicken breasts
2lb macaroni and beef entree ( compare to encor frozen family meals
1lb boneless pork chops. (4-4oz )
1.5 lb net weight salisbury steaks in brown gravy. ( encor type of frozen entree again.)
2 lb breaded chicken breast chunks oven fry.
1.5lb chicken breast tenderloins
1lb bulk hamburger for chili etc.
1lb breaded fish nuggets.
1lb smoked sausage
Now we move on to other items that are not strictly protein sources.
1lb frozen green beans
1lb frozen corn(very sweet)
2 1 quart containers of frozen soup. (tomato basil and cream of broccoli)
1.5 l frozen french fries
1lb sugar snap peas and carrots
1 can diced tomatos and chili fixings (prep)
1 lb kidney beans(prep)
3 other breakfast items flavored hi fiber oatmeal etc
1qt shelf stable 2% milk(prep)
1 dozen eggs.

To my judgment, a great deal at 41 dollars with a 2 dollar upcharge for online ordering.

Go to their website at http://www.angelfoodministries.com and compare their monthly and holiday packages.

This is not means tested, and it is not charity, in fact if you participate, your purchases
earn money to allow local service agencies to provide help for others. && && &&

Yep, NASTY weather! Freezing rain...garrrgh!

Got a brand new BOW & ARROWS with my tax money. I also got a FLETCHING JIG to put new feathers on arrow shafts.

I figure when the ammunition runs out after TSHTF a bow might be handy. Unless an arrow gets messed up it can be used over and over again. I used to be pretty good at ARCHERY.

The way things are going I have a BAD feeling about things later this year.

I just heard that there is a US Federal ID in the works. Apparently this was started in 2005. It should be mandatory by 2013. This ID card could have things like your standard drivers license in addition to fingerprint, retina scan, voice print, & DNA data. The next step after this is to put it all in a chip and insert! Get ready - here comes NAZI Germany all aver again only this time on a GRAND SCALE!

Thanks for the tip about Angel Food, we'e going to try it this month.
Not much prepping here, I have a nasty summer cold and I'm chain-sucking cough drops.
We're still trying to do a garden, but we all feel too crappy this weekend.

Post Re: March 2011
Last month I did 65lb of rice and about the same in pinto beans.

This month some more rice & black beans.

I laughed at the last ICE STORM. I went to the store for money order, not food, and left because of the crowds.

Apparently most people are not stocked up for more than 24 hours, if that. MY parents were from WW-II & the Great Depression so I learned from them to stock up. My cupboards are always half or more full as is my fridge. Then there's the stuff I've been prepping in buckets & boxes by the back door.

WTSHTF people are going to be going into houses looking for food! There will be plenty on the store shelves but no one will be able to buy it. We're headed there FAST now with the rising price of OIL. THEY claim to have gas priced at $5 or more per gallon by the end of 2011. I remember 2008 when gas hit $5 and I could hardly afford to go to work; then if something happened or license plates came due...

&& - - - &&

Right now I'm worried about my boy-friend. Last we talked was Tuesday at the attorneys office just to be told that very few will go after Law Enforcement for misdeeds. We did not get in a fight but things were tense when he left my place.

It's 50+ miles to his place and I'm in no hurry to find a dead body and my life ruined even more. Last time an absence like this occurred was when he was in jail for this problem we went to the attorney for.

Both of us have been in trouble recently for no crimes committed. He for asking a NAZI in the parking lot at work a question. Me for sliding off the road in a winter storm and doing no damage to anything. Neither of us are going to get any justice. I have over $2,000 in damage and impound fees and THEY have put the court case off on their deputy and Barney Fife is filing bankruptcy; so I get NOTHING!

It is getting BAD with the NAZI POLICE. The US Constitution 2nd & 4th Amendments have been thrown in the trash along with our lives.

We can stockpile all we want but I fear that it will not last long enough or the NAZI's will take it all away. It is a living NIGHTMARE right now and getting worse. That and the BAD dreams when I sleep.

Today in light of Japans earthquake and nuclear facilities ready to blow...

I have pulled my plastic tarps they are ready to cover the raised beds so I can pull dirt into the house once it has thawed...hopefully tarps will keep fallout of soil...

I have readied every possible container for water ...

I have located my rad tabs, I don't have many since that company ripped me off from getting my order and still charged me for them....

having eyes that see and ears that hear are our most important prep items..its is more it what they don't say on MSM then what they do say...you will notice they are as usuall beating around the bush so as not to panic the sheeple...

Praying for you and your family!
Amazon has potassium iodide tablets, isn't that what you're supposed to use? They're dirt cheap.
I have prime shipping, maybe I can send you some from amazon? Consider it a belated birthday?
Although Canadian shipping may not be available for over night delivery.
We're going today to look for a pecan tree, just email me or PM, I'm not leaving for a while.

I can not purchase online. Any idea or local sources for Potassium Iodide Tablets?

Any way it only protects you against certain radioactive elements in a melt down. The other stuff still gets you sick.

Amazon has emergency packs of iodide, two packs of 14 pills for $5, so I assume the normal dose is 1 pill a day for two weeks (two weeks is how long radiation takes to drop to non hazardous levels, usually. )
Want me to try to send you some? I can't guarantee when it will get there, since I don't know how shipping to canada works, but the ones you have will last until they get there, hopefully.
PM or email an address if you want!
Caltrop are you in canada? Maybe health food stores? Need me to send you a pack? Or I could send an extra to Kelee and she could pass it on to you. I really have to read the shipping policy for canada! I hope it doesn't take too long to ship there.
I'm not going to buy any for us, we're so far away the radiation won't be hazardous by the time it gets here.
Y'all stay in your basement, as much as possible, iodide only protects your thyroid.
Gotta go, my tree is waiting!

I do not think that dangerous radiation will make it much past the Rocky Mountains. We we're probably safe inland. The coastal states & Alaska could be hit hard.

Like I said some of us do not have online resources any longer to buy with so we have to shop the old-fashioned way - locally. And I don't think any stores locally carry Potassium Iodide Tablets. Maybe a pharmacy but I bet you have to have a prescription and I can not afford a doctor anymore.

caltrop,

#1 - Anyone can buy, without restriction, Potassium Iodide USP at a local chemical supply house (and even some larger photo supply outlets, but make sure it's "USP Grade") and readily mix up their own Potassium Iodide (KI) solution that is every bit as effective as the tablets.

#2 - ALSO, EVERYONE NEEDS TO BE TOLD: It is poisonous to ingest (drink/swallow) elemental iodine, iodine tablets (widely sold for water purification), tincture of iodine, or Povidone-iodine solutions (like the Betadine brand solution). They are all both ineffective for thyroid-blocking and very dangerous, perhaps even fatal to have a child drink any of them.

oops, sorry I didn't make it clear enough that the iodine was topical, NOT to be ingested.
Thanks!

I figured out it was topical. I know about Iodine & water purification from my time in the military.

I do not know of a chemical supply near where I live and the last I heard you needed a license for just about anything anymore.

I remember back when I was a kid and we'd go to a chemical supply house and you could get just about anything for your home chemistry set. But today with all the HYPED TERRORISM you can get nothing; you can't even buy more than a couple of bags of fertilizer without getting law enforcement after you. THEY wand us DUMB, THEY want us DEAD!

Oh well, I won't have Internet much longer and will just have to take my chances.
