Post Knitting & Chrochet patterns for pets and rescues
Just found a wonderful pattern site for good home-made dog and kitty beds/blankets called The Snuggles Project. The patterns are intended for use at shelters where scared and stressed kitties and doggies can use them as blankets or to hide under and feel safe. Some of them also look like they would make perfect home made pet beds or blankies; and would be a great use for both acrylic yarns and as learning projects. Several of the projects require just knowing either basic garter stitch knitting or single chain crochet, and size doesn't matter much would be a perfect starter project for a child or newbie adult.

I may try making one of the round beds for my bedroom cats who have pretty much killed their commercial beds. Cat's adore real wool, so if you have extra wool yarn that's a nice thing to use in your project, but the wool does not wash well and can attract moths. So, while I might use it for my own pets (and be ready to wash in warm water and throw away when it got too felted or moth eaten) I would use the suggested acrylics or cottons for shelter knitting.

Here is the link to the home page, just click on patterns: there are a few for home-sewers as well http://www.snugglesproject.org/

If you make something, be sure to take a picture and post it here!

This is great, thanks!
Remember my kitten with the Hitler mustache? We ended up naming him Kyle Kitler. LOL
He's the sweetest, most loving and affectionate cat I've ever known.

Oh I love it, Kyle Kitler!

Here's some more patterns for knitting him some toys - again the patterns are designed for charity knitting and if the UK's Battersea shelter is too far to send one, I'm sure the kitties waiting at Pet Smart or you local rescue would love some. Make some for your pets and those who will soon be pets for others (but for now are lonely and scared).

2 Toy Mouse patterns and a kitty pounce toy!
