If you're looking for a fast, easy, and cheap way to purify water, try this:

I don’t think it’s a matter of “is it coming.” I think that it’s already here, it’s just a matter of perspective. From one perspective, our frog friends are telling us that we should be grateful that the “spa” is hot and luxurious. From the cook’s perspective… another 10 minutes and we’ll be dinner.

The soda bottles also make excellent mini-green houses for sprouting seeds. cut off the bottle neck and turn it upside down in a 4" pot and give it sunshine or grow lights and the seeds sprout without needing to be watered on a daily basis because it is a closed biosphere.

Good one Kelee! I use my plastic milk jugs with screw on lids (not the snap on's) that way too. They are great to store all kinds of dry stuff in. And they are square so they really stack nice too with a minimum of lost space.

Be very very careful..actually you should not re-use the milk jugs you cannot get all of the milk out of the plastic it may spoil your food...I will find the link were it says not to use milk jugs...

http://www.endtimesreport.com/storing_tap_water.html

quoting from the above URL link;

Gallon size milk plastic containers are not recommended except for an extreme emergency, when nothing else is available, as they are porous and degrade in sunlight - by law!

This is one of the best ideas I have seen on storing water and re-oxygenating it when it goes flat. Thank you so much Kelee.

when were much poorer...we used liter soda bottles to store water.

These would be good for about 8 to 9 months before you would start tasteing the plastic.

The milk jugs would be ruin the water in just a couple months. Milk jugs would deteriote quickly in sunlight also.

One thing always keep water stored in the cool dark room!

If you drink juice, like cranberry, apple etc (not orange), you can use those bottles as well. I use a vinegar and baking soda mix to clean strong flavoered juice from the bottle, then soak over night with baking soda and water, then rinse and fill. Though plastic gets a bad rap about leeching, most is fine for storing water and food. Check evry 3 months to make sure that it hasn't broken down and started leaking.

Try freecycle or craigslist. It's amazing what people keep on there. Also neat to see people BEGIN saving things when requested. I have asked for egg cartons & gotten emails that people have some & also emails that they'll collect them if I want to pick them up later.
