 June 2010
yea I cheated and started a new one on me but today was such a busy day for me..I think my body will scream at me for the next 3 days... So today we had our yard sale and we put alot useless things out, and some of the big things we were not using..I sold a bike I had bought for 13 year old but it was way to big and brand new..I paid 60 at wally world I got 75 for it...we sold a cat scratch post(big one) for 60 dollars(I paid over 100.oo for it but it is out of the way now)..I also sold an A.Y.Jackson re-production painting that had been left here in the house for 75 dollars... while we were having yard sale and bunnylove was a trooper through the whole thing..I pulled the lawn mower out and did the lawns( I have grass catcher so it did not mess on yard sale) and then started weeding the front little garden (get this) I have a round circle on my front lawn...for those of you who know this..I AM GOING TO PAINT IT GREEN...lol... and alot of the small things went I was so happy..I made 295.00 bunnylove made herself about 35 dollars 13 year old keith made about 10 dollars and 19 year old made nothing, but he slept throught it all...lol..(but I put him to work when he woke up) this is over and above what I made So with my pockets filled with money and everything packed away...bunnylove and I went and got more wood for 2 more raised beds and cow manure and potting soil for them(need to get more poop and soil thou)..and then we grabbed pizza, cause by this time I had only grabbed a pop tart all day(yea you should try kelee,s diet you would lose hundred pounds easy) So I scarfed down couple slices of pizza..and back outside i went...built the raised beds..and got 19 year old and we filled them with soil...bunnylove and one of her little friends are planting the corn and using the sprinkler to water all the gardens..(probably more on them then the veggies)... so that my days it is 4.22 and I am pooped... oh forgot to mention neighbour down the street was having yardsale so I went down and got 2 more small clothing racks 2.00 for the 2 of them... I posted pictures of the raised beds here; kelee-s-raised-beds-updated-may-29-10-t6987.html

Hubby fixed the faucet so I was able to save the new veggie plants...got about 3/4 of things in, plus one big pot with a cherry tomato and flowers in it. Hubby got a good start at filling the gap between the shed frame and the ground and leveling the floor, plus he cleared a path to the door and put a little gravel down on it. PLUS weed, weed, weed.

Tilled entire garden, with a 31 cc mini tiller. Replanted corn, beans, and some tomatoes. Had some room left so put in 3 hills of squash, and 3 hills of cukes. Also scared out a toad, so I made a place so he could burrow. Came home, and cut enough seed taters for 4 rows

 Re: June 2010
HAHA!! I read the title & was like "JUNE?!?!?" Since we can't do much in the lower half of our house, we have been spring cleaning today. I have purgedpurgedpurged. I've already got NINE boxes of stuff for another yard sale in August, plus a couple big pieces (furniture & the like)!!! Plus we have a mostly CLEAN & SPARKLING upstairs now & all sheets, blankets, curtains, pillows are washing & drying (if not done). To me, cleanliness is such a HUGE prep- knowing what you have & need to replace, not to mention warding off illness We went yard-saling ourselves this morning (the 2 younger boys & I) & I found a glazed smallish crock with lid (for fermenting veggies), a pyrex mini-loaf pan & a large round casserole pyrex with lid. Cost me a whopping $4.10 & the loaf pan looks to be pretty new (even though both pieces are vintage).

 Re: June 2010
Went back to the where the truck was sitting overnight. Nothing was missing. Had charged up battery from car, and put it in the truck. No worky still. Took the truck battery to Wally world, where it came from and had them check it. It was good. In fact, they said it tested better than the specs said it should. Went back home to think about it. (Would have started with replacing the battery cables, but must wait for unemployment check first.) Put battery in car, but car still wouldn;t start. I suspected the remote starter I had put on in February. I had taken the battery out to try it in the truck, and the car wouldn't start anymore after that. Well, tonite, while I was tracing the wires to the battery, I saw a NEW switch under the hood. It appeared that it was closed when the hood is completely closed, and was put on when the remote starter was installed. Anyway, THAT was the problem. With the hood closed, the car starts. So we drove the car to where the truck was parked, and while I was "working" on it, a guy pulled up in another old pickup. He had tried to jump me yesterday, unsuccessfully. Tonite he offered to pull my truck home for me. I am relieved because the car starts, and the truck is home. Yay ! ;-]

 Re: June 2010
Okay, it's not June yet, but I'll bite.
Got two more cast iron pots for our collection at a really good price. Also got a manuel push mower for $15!!! Tilled the garden and then used the hoe where the tiller wouldn't reach. Had a guy come out and ask me the other day how we keep the weeds out of the garden....well duh....physical labor!!

 Re: June 2010
Not really prepping, but went uptown to the local flea market and saw a perfection model 525 kerosene heater for $145, rusty, and unserviceable. The one I bought at a garage sale 3 wk ago is serviceable, and cost $3. Yeess!

 Re: June 2010
Kel, my kids like the goosebumps books & movies, too.
Today I worked in the garden. I got greens seeds planted (lettuce, spinach, mesclun), another trellis started, started hardening off my seedlings, and I dug a couple walkways & raised a couple of the beds. Had someone stop by to drop off some drywall supplies. They were going to show us how to do it, but they got here kinda late. Oh & a friend of ours dropped off some ginormous burlap sacks (they were used for wool). I plan on using them for weed control in the walkways, possibly under the plants.
I don't know if I posted this before, but I also reintroduced the broody momma & her 5 chicks to the rest of the flock on Friday. A couple small problems, but overall, so far, so good.
AAANNNDDDD!!!!! I'm ALMOST caught up with laundry from the "flood." YIPPEE!!!

 Re: June 2010
Bought a case plus one of Miracle Whip. We can't do without it, lol, and Wal-mart has it through tomorrow for only $1.97. Huge savings!

 Re: June 2010
Hey Rubies..."It is now officallly June 1st"
Well yesterday was a bad day for me...
I got home from out of town and put van in reverse and as I backed in the van started smoking and it stunk real bad..when I got out I noticed a trail of fluid from the road to were I had parked in the drive way..tranny fluid..that nice red colour that you hate to see...
I called Ford to take it in and with alot of help from forum members in chat I was able to check out tranny fluid level and driveabiltity...well she went about 2 feet out on the road and stopped..I managed to get her back in the driveway..and called Ford back and they ordered a tow truck..
I pray it is only a gasket not the tranny...but right now this was not something I needed....all my extra financies have been going into preps..the raised beds, the soil..so now they are on hold I will have van bill to pay...
Yea "the boss" had a weak moment yesterday and even had a good cry about this one...I don,t understand if God has called us to prepare, then why all the added expenses in life.
Today is a new day..its cooler here..and with being stuck in the house I have been working on things indoors..pop bottles washed and my kitchen is clean(lol)
