I don’t think it’s a matter of “is it coming.” I think that it’s already here, it’s just a matter of perspective. From one perspective, our frog friends are telling us that we should be grateful that the “spa” is hot and luxurious. From the cook’s perspective… another 10 minutes and we’ll be dinner.

Thank you, and may the same blessing befall you and yours! :-D

That reminds me.... I have to go out for a few things myself today. vux

I dehydrated some orange peel, I thought I could just crumble it to powder like broccoli and spinach, but it's hard and sharp and doesn't crumble, do you use a blender or processor on those peels?
I've been buying at least two pounds of frozen corn to dehydrate every time I go to the store, all the stories on corn prices have me frantic to lay in as much as I can.
I hope I feel up to canning tomorrow, I scored out-of-date ground beef for $1.49 per lb yesterday, but time is of the essence, it's not gonna last and the freezer is full.

I wonder if you could dehydrate lemon slices? We have lots of tea in our preps, it'd be perfect and refreshing to drop a slice in your glass in the post-apocalyptic future to sip while killing zombies.
I'm going to try it! Making lemon slices, not killing zombies. Not yet, at least.

yes when I googled about dehydrating the tangerines..they mentioned lemons and limes...

and thats an excellent idea...i did the tangerines because I had some left over and since we are sick we have'nt been able to eat them...but I would love to try lemons, once I can out and about..right now I am back to bed...

Thanks, but many people will not have a Happy Year nor any preps because they have NOTHING.

Everything taken away by the RICH ELITE. It's going to be BAD this year folks. No unemployment benefits. The Baby Boomers will be hitting retirement age by the thousands for the next 19 years and there's nothing in Social Security. 401K's will be snatched by the government along with who knows what else the government will want; your land maybe, definitely your guns & freedom.

Just remember WW-II and the German NAZI's. The Department Of Homeland Security with their TSA & FEMA are just like the NAZI's of WW-II.

- - -

You can dry anything! Somethings turn brown if not prepared right; potatoes & apples for one. I'm just finishing up some onions and next is some more dried beef; none of it lasts long because we use it all the time. Keeps the stock fresh.

So I decided to head towards zekers and his DW's today and drop off the 2 bags of rice I had picked up in my town to him( we live about half hour apart)...and while I am down the highway I go to another small town to shop....

I have never been so glad I went....

I got

36 large cans of fruits .49 cents a can(they were on sale for 1.49 and right in front of the display was a whack of 1.00 off coupons)
12 cans of corn 2/1.00
4 cans carrots 2/1.00(use this in pets food)
12 no name Mr.Noodles .25 a pack
100 tea bags 2.00
3 cans potatoes .99 each
5 packs of TP (32 rolls) 2.97 each(giant tiger)

and I had to buy regular food items for next couple of weeks..also good deals that how I afforded the extra preps...I was so amazed at the fruit price woot....

ps tygerkittn if you read this, I picked up couple of bags of limes to dehydrate them..they were on the sale rack .99 cents there about 7 limes in each bag( I am going to wash them real good and then slice them with skin on then quarter the slices and see how they turn out)

That is great! The toilet paper is especially impressive, we pay $18 for 36 rolls.
Let me know how the limes turn out! DH has some money in his pocket, I'm going to slip some more spinach in the cart to dehydrate (we're primarily shopping for birthday presents for DD) and maybe a bag of lemons. ("But I'm sure she said she wanted spinach and lemons for her birthday!")
Anyway, my birthday is this month, I'm thinking of asking for canning jars and dehydratables.

I got the limes done yesterday, there were more in each bag then I thought...filled all 5 trays..I sliced as thin as I could(with cut in my right thumb, got it yesterday when trying to get a pressure/canner down from top shelf at zellers store..carboard gives you worse cuts then paper)...

I just poured a glass of water and placed one slice into it..voila water does have a hint of lime...so I think if you can find limes on sale they are worth the dehydrating when SHTF and water will have that real balnd tatse to it this will liven it up ...

now I am finishing up the tangerines so I can make my powdered rind...

Not really a prep but my freezer is packed full of......MILK...I went out this morning to buy some milk at the cheapest place in town for it...had to pay some bills, then stopped at variety store to get couple of things..

On my way into the variety store I saw one of the gentlemen that had been around for my indoor yards sales...he asks me if I want some milk and he hands me one bag...well sure yea I replied, he says its free and I have more coming out....

So I waited for a second and the driver of the milk truck comes out with a dolly filled with milk containers and he says also do you want some milk..well sure yea free milk..it expires in 2 days..(but being froozen it will last a longer time)

In Canada we buy out milk in 4 litre bags...well I got 9 free bags of milk and 3 cartons(plus the 2 bags I had already bought)..he had more to give away but I did not have the space for it...This works out to be over 80.00 in free milk..

kids got home from school I said please drink lots of milk....
