German police search for identity of English-speaking boy who emerged from woods



German police have issued a Europe-wide appeal to anyone with information about the identity of a 17-year-old boy who claims to have been living in the wild for the past five years.

The teen turned up at Berlin's city hall on Sept. 5 and was taken to an emergency center after he said he had been walking for two weeks after his father died in the woods, authorities said.

The mysterious teen, who speaks fluent English and basic German, was unable to provide information other than his first name, Ray, and his date of birth.

The boy told detectives that after his mother died in a car accident five years ago he'd lived in a tent and earthen dugouts with his father in a forest. He said he cannot remember anything from his life before he entered the forest.
