Post Christian groups threatened with shutdown
A prominent American university has decided five on-campus Christian groups are in violation of the school's non-discrimination policy and has placed the groups on "provisional status" -- a move described by one conservative group as nothing short of religious bigotry.

Officials at Vanderbilt University told the groups they were in violation of non-discrimination policy for requiring their leaders to share the beliefs, goals, and values of their respective group. Should the groups not adhere to university policy, they risk being shut down.

One of the groups threatened with being shut down is the Christian Legal Society. The others are the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Graduate Christian Fellowship, the fraternity Beta Upsilon Chi, and the sorority Sigma Phi Lambda. Each group's constitution includes a clause restricting leadership positions to individuals who share the group's core religious beliefs.

I don’t think it’s a matter of “is it coming.” I think that it’s already here, it’s just a matter of perspective. From one perspective, our frog friends are telling us that we should be grateful that the “spa” is hot and luxurious. From the cook’s perspective… another 10 minutes and we’ll be dinner.

Provisional Status??? Kinda sounds like they got off light, compared to the very real martyrdom
suffered by their brethren all across the world.

I seem to be reminded of the charge to Christians to be ''in this world, but not a part of this world''

Almost ALL of the great university's, which were begun by devout Christian sects, have abandoned their
biblical charge '' to spread the good news of Christs redemption, to the whole world.''

The story here is much akin to the uproar caused by the Boy Scouts denying gays places in their ''LEADERSHIP''

The whiners about this, give the impression that gay scouts are not allowed to be scouts, which is not true.

The facts of this case are that the Boy Scouts are a PRIVATE ORGANIZATION, and as such, may choose
leadership or members in Any Way that they wish.

The groups involved should quit trying to seek the approval of the school, IMO, and form their organizations
apart from the school.

With that said, they may use any public accommodation, such as meeting spaces in the school , by law at the same
cost as any other group, and still bar admittance to any person they wish.
This solution will give them access to any other civic organization which makes space available to the public
as well.

This has already spilled over into attempts by government to sue under civil rights laws, and charge pastors
for denouncing sinful behavior from the pulpit.

The churches open themselves up to these charges when they accept ''tax free status'', as non profit entities.

Even now, the Secularists wish to strip the Churches of their tax free status, and use those funds, they say to
strengthen the ''welfare'' funds available for the redistribution to their ''clients''.
