Post Apple co-founder Steve Jobs dies at 56
Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who revolutionized technology through his design, marketing and creation of personal computers and mobile devices, has died at 56, the company announced Wednesday.

The man who forged Apple into a powerhouse and shaped how people listen to music and how they use computers died peacefully surrounded by his family.

"We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today," Apple said in a brief statement.

"Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve."

Noticeably fragile, he had stepped down from Apple in late August to deal with the effects of an unspecified illness. Jobs had been treated earlier for pancreatic cancer after first being diagnosed in 2004.

I don’t think it’s a matter of “is it coming.” I think that it’s already here, it’s just a matter of perspective. From one perspective, our frog friends are telling us that we should be grateful that the “spa” is hot and luxurious. From the cook’s perspective… another 10 minutes and we’ll be dinner.

He's been sick with pancreatic cancer for about eight years.

Anyway in 2006 Apple ripped out the Motorola heart of the Mac and replaced it with an Intel chip making the Apple no better than a PC but now PC compatible. A long history of older version software compatibility has ended. If you have an older Apple a complete upgrade to Intel will be necessary.

It' all MICRO$OFT now!

When I told my son he said "So Apple still has that battery life problem?"
He has a sick sense of humor. Gets it from me.
We had watched "Pirates of Silicon Valley" so the kids all knew who he was. I loved that movie, but it wasn't very flattering to Steve Jobs.
I used to only buy apple, but after those horrible colored iMacs we quit and never bought apple again, not even ipods or iphones.
Those iMacs were so badly designed! I got really tired of crawling under the desk to unplug it when it froze, and USB stuff hardly ever worked on it.
I notice the new iphone isn't doing well, since he left. He was apple's good luck charm.

My sister swore by her iPod so I tried one - ONCE...

Turned into a MESS! Apple stuff for many years always had issues wit PC's. But no longer! The new Apple Computers are now INTEL based and fully PC compatible.

I don't do iAnything!!! The iPad looked interesting but now there are others out there now. But as with Cell-Phones any 'NEW' computer controlled device out there has 'Spyware' legislated into it so THEY can track us and what we do! That and is is made in CHINA - CHINA CRAP!
