I had prepped some packages of icing mix..and we just opened some of the vanilla icing and oh my it tasted like yuck bluck and rotten plastic...I only have about a dozen so no loss...

but if you are prepping incing sugar I would like to know how you are storing it for long term use...

I don’t think it’s a matter of “is it coming.” I think that it’s already here, it’s just a matter of perspective. From one perspective, our frog friends are telling us that we should be grateful that the “spa” is hot and luxurious. From the cook’s perspective… another 10 minutes and we’ll be dinner.

Wow, I'd have bought icing mix if I could find it, all we have here is canned frosting, I have some of that but no faith in it's shelf life, it's flimsy packaging.
I just have powdered sugar stored. Mix it with milk and butter and vanilla, or cream cheese, or chocolate and butter and milk, or chocolate and sour cream, and you have really good frosting.
I have cases of cake mixes. In a pinch, most of them are good without icing, I guess. You could just sift powdered sugar over it.

You have me worried now. We have bags of granulated sugar stored ready for making homebrewed Ale. If I get a chance I'll check it this weekend.

Powdered sugar can be kept indefinetely in a vaccuum sealed glass jar or package. I have had no trouble with vacuuming the package as is for 6 years.
Granulated sugar I have in several tupperware type containers (open) and had no trouble after 2 years. My grandmother kept hers in a large canister (tin) that held 50 pounds and it was good for several years. I keep my long term sugar stash in various ways...some in vacuum sealed bags and some in 5 gallon buckets. As long as it is free of moisture and bugs, sugar has an indefinite shelf life. I do protect it from other items as I think it can absorb odors.

Kelee. I have stored Icing sugar in 5 gal food grade buckets and also in the three gallon Ice cream containers. Just fill them up, put top on and I also wrap ducked tape around the top of the bucket to help keep the bugs out. I have not had any trouble ever. They have been stored both in the garage and inside. For at least 7 - 8 years. Still as good as when I got it. I also keep my granulated sugar and brown sugar in this same way.

Mine are double wrapped and in plastic buckets, brown sugar, powdered sugar and granulated. I have only 24 pounds of powdered and brown and about 100 pounds of granulated.
I have stored granulated sugar just double bagged in bread bags with twist ties in the basement, after 5 years no problem.
