Alphabet Soup in a Jar

A great soup gift for children, or one for your kids to make!

1/4 cup red lentils
1/4 cup green split peas
1/4 cup barley
1/3 cup beef bouillon powder
2 tbsp parsley flakes
3 tbsp dried minced onion
1/3 tsp thyme
1/3 tsp pepper
1 tsp basil
1/4 cup alphabet pasta

In a two cup jar, layer each ingredient in the order given. Add more alphabet pasta if needed to fill jar. Seal and label.

Instructions:

In large stock pot combine 8 cups of water, 2 cans (14oz) crushed tomatoes and contents of soup mix jar. Add 2 chopped carrots and a few chopped potatoes. Bring to a boil then reduce the heat, simmering for one hour or until lentils and peas are tender. Serve!
