Air Canada to flight attendants: suck it up
You take the good and the bad and there you have the facts of life. So says Air Canada to its unhappy 6,800 flight attendants as the possibility of a strike looms.
The attendants are members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE). They rejected a tentative agreement last month and could go on strike as early as next Wednesday, reports The Globe & Mail.
In short, the employees are disenchanted by a payment system that they argue fails to fully compensate them for duty days, notably ones involving domestic overnight shifts with layovers of almost five hours at an airport. Other sticking points include wage increases over a five-year contract, Air Canada's proposal to launch a low-cost carrier and plans to place new hires on defined-contribution pensions.
Canada's national airline, disillusioned as it may be by the lack of progress in negotiations with the union, came out swinging in a letter sent to its cabin crews recently essentially telling them they need to learn to roll with the punches given their lot in life.

This might become the norm of companies telling unions and the employees of such unions..to suck it up...you cannot get blood from a stone and you can only whip a dead dog for so long until it is dead again...
