Post 2010 Indoor gardens
I have been asked to start a thread on indoor gardening..I have done alot of experimenting with indoor growth...but this year with all that is going on I am going to be planting alot more inside then I did outside this year...

I am going to start with a basic list of supplies indoor planting will begin in a couple of weeks...

I have 2 small greenhouses like this

Image

and a large tall one like this;

Image

Indoor grow lights; I bought 2- 18 inch grow lights disposable(they have lasted me 4 years) I also have 2 -4 foot ballists the type that will plug into a regular wall socket and I installed aquaruim/plants growing lights

I always start with fresh soil and manure, the stuff from your gardens will contain bugs and you don't want them in your house...

and of course various size planters....

couple of small blow up pools(something to hold soil bags to grow potatoes in and water drains into pool( I have done this also with plastic totes..poke holes in the bottom and place the lid under the bucket)

and seeds....

save your bags that your potting soil came in...

I use plant food for my area and depending what I am growing...

So far I have been successful in growing tomatoes.potatoes,tobacco and pea,s indoors..

Next week I will be getting my indoor potting soil to get started....

I don’t think it’s a matter of “is it coming.” I think that it’s already here, it’s just a matter of perspective. From one perspective, our frog friends are telling us that we should be grateful that the “spa” is hot and luxurious. From the cook’s perspective… another 10 minutes and we’ll be dinner.

If you don't want to pay for the greenhouse, you can also use shelving & a thicker plastic sheeting. I did that this year & it worked tremendously. IIRC, I used 4mil for mine, but it may have been 6mil.

Post Re: 2010 Indoor gardens
yesterday July 6th...I ventured out to get my potting soil and cow manure....well cow manure was on sale for 1.79 for 25lt bag( I got 5 ) and black potting soil 2.00 bag( got 3)

So far I have planted

watermelon
tomatoes
sage
pumkin( I actuaaly had one of those grow really good indoors one winter)

and I transplanted a few of my tobacco,s

I have moved the large green house to the front window so it will get full exposure to the sunlight...ince fall hits the plants will go under grow lights(well some cause they will be plenty big by then)

Today I will finish planting what I want to grow indoors and will update this thread later..I have to find more large potting planters..when I went to the zellers store here to hopefully find some summer sales, all of the planters were gone and they had school stuff on the shelves..

I know they did not sell them all they had alot of them,I searched the regular sections of the store ,but I could not find any....

ok I got my down stairs set up to start growing indoors for fall/winter 2010

This is the large green house...I have 2 small grow lamps inside...

Image

These are the 2 small green houses and because the way I have attached the ballist I won't be able to cover them with plastic and I stored between them a coffee table covered in plastic to protect it;

Image

Large green house beside the sauna( you will notice sauna has become a storage unit for a foam mattress(we don't use sauna in summer) lol to hot as it is...

Image

And then right bside all of the growing section is my downstairs kitchen;
